HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6747er • RESOLUTION NO. 6747 C1 J A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING A CODE OF ETHICS FOR GOVERNMENT SERVICES AS AGREED TO BY THE IiOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE AS HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 175 IN THE SECOND SESSION OF THE 85th CONGRESS. Now therefore the City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Any Person in Government Service should: SECTION 1. Put loyalty to the highest moral principles and to country above loyalty to persons, party, or Government department. SECTION 2. Uphold the Constitution, laws, and legal regulations of the United States and all governments therein and never be a, party to,their evasion. SECTION 3. Give a -fuli'day's labor for a full day's pay; giving to the performance of his duties his earnest effort and best, thought." SECTION 4. Seek to find and employ more efficient and economical ways of gettfng'tasks accomplished. SECTION 5. Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or privileges to anyone, whether for remuneration or not; and never accept, for himself or his family, favors or benefits under circumstances which might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties. SECTION 6. Make no private promises of any kind binding upon the duties of office, since a Government employee has no private word which can be binding on public duty. SECTION 7. Engage in no business with the Government, either directly or indirectly, which is inconsistent with the conscientious performance of his governmental duties. SECTION S. Never use any information coming to him confidentially in the performance of governmental duties as a means for making private profit. SECTION 9. Expose corruption wherever discovered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa hereby takes action to uphold these principles, ever conscious that public office is a public trust. Ma or I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council -of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of January, 1979, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Moses, Solem NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None j Ci -y Clerk
