A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA RELATIVE TO THE CALIFORNIA
CRIME WATCH PROGRAM.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
WHEREAS, one United States household in five has
been hit by crime at least once in the last 12 months, with
either property stolen or a member of the household the
victim of a physical assault, according to the findings of
a Gallup poll released in December 1979; and
WHEREAS, the Gallup survey findings parallel the
upturn in crimes reported by the Federal Bureau of Investi-
gation which reported increases in every kind of major crime
for the first six months of 1979; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau•of Criminal Statistics of the
California Department of Justice has documented similar
results; and
WHEREAS, there has been insufficient public
attention to the rights and plight of crime victims in our
society and to effective crime prevention programs to -reduce
the numbers of crime victims; and
WHEREAS, it is essential to inform the public
of and broaden the availability and merit of effective
methods of crime prevention to help minimize further disrup-
tion in the lives of crime victims;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council
of the City of,Azusa that,..in recognition of the foregoing
and the mandate'contained in article' V, section 13 of the
California Constitution, which proclaims the Attorney General
to be California's chief law officer, the City Council of the
City of Azusa hereby takes .this..,opportunity to endorse and
support California Crime Watch and the Attorney General's
Plan to Restore, Public •Safety�,in the ,80's.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular
meeting thereof, held on the 7th day of January, 1980, by the
following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Moses, Solem
