HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 69010 RESOLUTION NO. 6901 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSED EXPANDED COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE. WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has proposed to expand commuter rail service from San Bernardino through the San Gabriel Valley to downtown Los Angeles, and WHEREAS, because of intense interest in energy conservation, after many years of uncontrolled growth, Southern California has found itself in a difficult position; that of having to provide adequate roadways for innumerable working residents living long distances from their places of employment, and WHEREAS, the lack of a comprehensive and energy efficient public transportation system has been exacerbated by diminished petroleum supplies; NODI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa, recognizing the need for this system and how it will ultimately benefit each resident, either directly or indirectly, supports the efforts of the California Department of Transportation to provide speedy installation of this extremely important service insofar as it utilizes existing railway facilities.
