Present at roll call: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman McIntire. The minutes of the last regular meeting of July 20, 1936 were read and approved as read. A communication from Councilman McIntire was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from Mrs. Fulton and one from Mr. Ellis relative to the placing of a metal sign just inside the easterly City limits of Azusa, were read. No action taken. A communication from Mrs. Dunlap asking permission to hang a banner across Foothill Boulevard announcing the can- didacy of Mr. Jerry Voorhis for Congress in the Twelfth District, was read. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this request be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman McIntire. Councilman Carr offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE A CERTAIN MEMORANDUM'AGREEMENT FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF 1/4 CENT GAS TAX ON STREETS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE WITHIN SAID CITY AS PRESENTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIF- ORNIA. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolu- tion No. 1502. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman McIntire. Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CAL- IFORNIA TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF SIX HUN- DRED AND SIXTY-SIX DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS ($666.50) FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO THE WATER BOND FUND, 1901: ALSO TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS ($456.50) FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO THE WATER BOND FUND, 1906: ALSO TRANSFERRING THE 447 7:30 P. The League of California Municipalities proposed Traffic Ordinance was presented. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that same be referred to the City Attorney to report back at the next regular meeting of the Council. A communication from Supervisor Legg, re- lative to the "National Air Races", was read. 1) Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester and duly carried that same be placed on file. Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZ,USA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CAL- IFORNIA, APPOINTING CORNELIUS SMITH CO- ORDINATING REGISTRAR AND FIXING HIS COM- PENSATION. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1504. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman McIntire. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded Councilman Arnold that Cornelius Smit be paid $35.00 for services rendered, registering the unemployed during the month of July, 1936. Fes appeared before the Council requesting permission to operate a res- taurant without supplying the bond, re- quired by Ordinance No. 284. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this matter be referred to the City Attorney to report back. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by ' Councilman Chester that the Street Superintendent be authorized and instruct- ed to purchase a pump and hose, the price to be approximately $215.00y from Roy G. Davis Company. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman McIntire. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that the following requisition be allowed: 1550.
