The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Roll call. A communication signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, suggesting the erection of a clock on the monument, was read and ordered placed on file. A telegram addressed to Mayor Carr and signed by Edward 0. Nay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the City of Pasadena, relative to amendments to County Charter being placed on the November ballot, was read and ordered placed on file. SEPTEMBER 21, 1936. 7:300.5- A letter addressed to Dr. Brooks and signed by Mr..Smith, Secretary to Herbert C. Legg, relative to the Street Assessment on Foothill Boulevard, was read. Moved and carried that the City Clerk City Clerk instructed be instructed to write Mr. Smith informing to write•Secretary him that Foothill Boulevard, through the Smith. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS RESOLUTION NO. 1507 ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING ADOPTED. THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF AZUSA, CAL- IFORNIA, AS DEPOSITORY OF HINDS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AND APPROVING THE SELECT- ION OF SUCH BANK AS SUCH DEPOSITORY BY THE CITY TREASURER OF AZUSA. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that this Reso- lution be adopted as readand numbered Resolution No. 1507. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: None. SEPTEMBER 21, 1936. 7:30 Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this matter be referred to the Street Superintendent to make an estimate of the cost and to report back at the next regular meeting. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. J. T. Strafford appeared before the Mr. Strafford instruct - Council and offered to re -paint the flag ed to paint flag pole. pole and ball for $25.00. If the ball did not need gold leaf, the price would be $18.00. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that Mr. Strafford be instructed to do the work and the City Clerk be instructed and authorized to issue a check in favor of Mr. Strafford for $25.00 provided he repainted the pole and ball or $18.00 if he repainted just the pole. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: None. Cornelius Smith, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce addressed the Council re- lative to the printing of pamphlets advertising Azusa. He stated the cost of printing five thousand pamphlets would be $200.00 and requested the City to con- tribute this amount. Moved and carried that this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works and Promotion to report back. James Rogers, Jr. addressed the Council relative to the roof on the Fire Hall. Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None. Absent: None. Captain Rhodes addressed the Council re- lative to double parking on the State Highway #66 and #91, also Ordinance No.,292 governing the two hour parking limit on said streets. ' No action taken. Mayor Carr reported that he had received complai{ts regarding the Mexican Pool hall. his matter was referred to the Police Department. City Attorney Miller reported on the proposed contract between the City of Azusa and the Los Angeles County Health Department. Suggesting that no action be taken for the present as long as the statements received from the County, for enforcement of Health Laws, run around ten dollars to twenty-five dollars. Secretary Smith re- quested $200. for printing of pamphlets for the City of Azusa. Request for new roof for the Fire Hall re- ferred to the Board of Public Works. City Attorney Miller presented, for filing, Memorandum of Agree - a Memorandum of Agreement between the City ment filed. Philleo, Vice President of the First National Bank of Azusa and Thomas L. Munson, City Treasurer of the City of Azusa. Councilman Chester requested that Wm. F. Raise in salaries 2erell, Assistant Superintendent of Light suggested. and Water be paid a s�lary of $225.00 per month, also that the hief of Police No action. Bierbower be paid a salary of $175.00 per month. Councilman Arnold suggested that Captain Rhodes be paid $150.00 per month. The matter was discussed and laid over until the next regular meeting of the Gouncil.
