HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 71890 0 RESOLUTION_NO."7189 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA.IN SUPPORT OF INITIATIVE MEASURE PROPOSITION 12 TO BE SUBMITTED TO VOTERS OF CALIFORNIA ON NOVEMBER 2, 1982. WHEREAS, citizens of Azusa, together with people throughout the world, are faced with a threat of incredible magnitude as a result of the nuclear arms race and the possibility of war between the United States and Soviet Union, and WHEREAS, people of California on November 2, 1982, will have an opportunity to vote on an initiative measure calling for a halt to the testing, production and further deployment of nuclear weapons, and WHEREAS, this measure, Proposition 12, the California Bilateral Nuclear Weapons Freeze Initiative (Exhibit A) will provide a first step toward the goal of peace between nations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the members of the Azusa City Council, cognizant of their responsibility to the people of Azusa, do hereby endorse Proposition 12, the Bilateral Nuclear Freeze Initiative.
