HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7155RESOLUTION NO. 7155 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING ARTHUR H. BROWN FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, San Francisco is noteworthy for three reasons: its Golden Gate Bridge; the earthquake; as ARTHUR H. BROWN'S birthplace. Since the bridge was a spectacular human achievement, and the earthquake just as spectacular a natural disaster, it is perhaps only fair that the third event be placed in the middle, between the achievement and the disaster. In this way all.judgments as to relative status can begin from an impartial center, and WHEREAS, since, at a tender age, he came to Southern California, making Los Angeles his home, we must consider that to be his home town, wherein he successfully completed all aboriginal rites of passage to manhood in its dark, steamy and tribal interior, and WHEREAS, after various tentative attempts, he, realizing the inexorable grip of destiny, ascended to accept employment with the City of Azusa on September 1, 1957, and WHEREAS, across the span of time, he has become widely known as a living vade mecum of vegetation. If it.is green and grows in the ground, ART knows all about -its care and feeding. The lush beauty of all municipal flora is attributable to ART in his capacity as Superintendent of Parks. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa, thanks ARTHUR BROWN for the many years of service he has provided the City and its residents, and further, commends him for the outstanding manner marking all his activities on behalf of the City, and finally, wishes him a long and satisfying retirement. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 19th day of July, 1982.
