HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 71340 0 RESOLUTION NO. 7134 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING JENS J. SOLEM FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, how can adequate thanks and gratitude be extended to a person who has given over a quarter of a century of dedicated service to the City and residents of Azusa? and WHEREAS, JENS J. SOLEM has done this since July 2, 1954, when he was appointed to the Planning Commission; he served on that body until April 12, 1966 when he was elected to the City Council, on which he served both as Councilman and as an appointed Mayor, until March 2, 1976, when he was directly elected to serve as Mayor, which office he held to April 20, 1982, and WHEREAS, when the heat of political fires has cooled, what remains in lasting tribute, are the many accomplishments wrought by him, always with the end being to better the condition of the residents and to improve the functioning of City Government, and WHEREAS, mortality makes all men brothers, some, however, are more acutely aware of that fact than others, and by so striving to help their fellow man, make of their own lives a truly enriched time on this earth; even though, at times it can appear to be an endless, thankless task. An appropriate comparison can be made to those vacuous, self-centered persons who live out a barren existence hearing, seeing and understanding only themselves; these live and die unloved and unmourned. NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED; that the City Council of the City of Azusa commends JENS J. SOLEM, for providing the City and its residents so many years of dedicated service and further wishes him a full and bountiful life in the future. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 21st day of June, 1982. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 21st day of June, 1982, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS Decker, Hart, Latta, Moses None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS', : None
