HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7243RESOLUTION NO. 7243 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI- CATIONS FOR PARK SUPERINTENDENT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The job specifications for the classification of Park Superintendent are hereby amended to read in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incor- porated herein by reference. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 3.' The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 21st day of March, 1983. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting hereof held on the 21st day of March, 1983, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DECKER, HART, CRUZ, LATTA,,MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE • EXHIBIT A `10 CITY OF AZUSA Date Adopted: PARK SUPERINTENDENT JOB SUMMARY Under general direction --plans, assigns, and supervises the work of several crews engaged in the planting, care, and maintenance of park and parkway trees, parks, parkways, landscaped areas, restrooms, buildings, and rec- reational facilities; prepares landscape designs and lists of materials for various landscaped areas; and does related work as required. Representative Duties Plans and makes work assignments for subordinates engaged in the maintenance and landscaping of park grounds and municipal landscaped areas and the main- tenance of buildings and recreational facilities in parks; inspects and reviews the work of subordinates; prepares basic landscape plans for new park areas, athletic fields, and recreation areas for review and approval of superiors; checks playground equipment for safety requirements; plans and supervises park and parkway tree planting, trimming, spraying, and removal; maintains records for all park and parkway trees; plans and supervises the planting and spraying of shrubs, flower beds, and grass; designs and super- vises the installation and maintenance of automatic sprinkler systems; inspects to insure that parks and other landscaped areas are kept clean; selects trees, flowers, shrubs, and grasses to be planted; estimates needs for and requisitions tools, equipment, and materials; purchases supplies and materials; obtains bids for special items and work; supervises the care and maintenance of tools and equipment; keeps records; prepares reports; prepares budget for the Park Division. Organizational Responsibilities Park Superintendent is a one -position, supervisory class within the Com- munity Services Department. An employee of this class reports to the Director of Community Services. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience A Bachelors Degree in Park Management or allied field, such as Horticulture, Park Administration, Forestry or Arboriculture; and Five years of recent responsible park service experience, including four years at supervisory level. Knoweldge and Abilities Knowledge of the propagating, planting, cultivating, pruning, and care of flowers, shrubs, lawns, and trees.; the methods of preparing soils for planting; the kinds of fertilizers and their proper usage; plant diseases and pests common to the area and the means of their control and eradica- tion; the maintenance and repair of light power equipment; the operation Page 1 of 2 Exhibit A PARK SUPERINTENDENT JOB SUMMARY of sprinkler systems, the selection and application of herbicides; and the principles of administration, supervision, and training. Ability to design and lay out landscaped areas; schedule time and materials needed to complete a project; keep records and prepare reports; supervise a group of employees engaged in varied activities; and establish and main- tain effective public relations.
