RESOLUTION NO. 7386
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI-
CATIONS FOR APPRENTICE LINE MECHANIC
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifi-
cation of Apprentice Line Mechanic are hereby amended to read
in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 19th day of December, 1983.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly

meeting hereof held on the 19th day of December, 1983, by the

APPRENTICE LINE MECHANIC Date adopted:
JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision -- assists in constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and
underground electrical systems and equipment, receiving increasingly responsible
instruction and experience in learning the line mechanic trade; does related work as
required.
Representative Duties
Assists in loading, transporting, and setting poles and anchors; prepare crossarms and
guys, and assists in installing them; climbs poles in clearing primary line or secondary
line trouble; connects and disconnects light services, shoots trouble on light and power
circuits; answers trouble calls, clears short circuits and makes repairs to same if on
City lines; makes repairs on street lights. Under direct supervision, assists in per-
forming maintenance and construction work requiring the handling, splicing, and connecting
of energized high-voltage wires; fuses transformers; installs cutouts, ground rods, pole
grounds, meters, and service wires.
Organizational Responsibilities
This class differs from line mechanic in that it involves learning the line mechanic trade
and working on lines carrying not over 750 volts except when working closely with a line
mechanic. Contacts with the public may be numerous while employee is performing trouble-
shooting work. Certain phases of this work are performed independently, subject however,
to check and inspection on completion.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school, GED, or CHSPE.Certificate; and
Two years of experience of electrical maintenance and repair work as a line mechanic helper
or one year as an apprentice line mechanic.
Vision: Keen color perception
Knowledrzes and Abilities
Knowledge of: tools, equipment, and methods employed in the construction and maintenance
of electrical transmission and distribution lines; electrical codes such as State Electrical
Saftery Orders and State General Order No. 95; necessary precautions to be taken in working
with high voltage lines; fundamental safety regulations, first aid, and the methods of
applying resuscitation. Ability: for further training in the principles of electrical
theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems; to think and act quickly in
emergencies; to climb poles and perform work requiring strength and agility under all
weather conditions; to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees; to
use and care for the tools and equipment of the trade.
Licenses
California Class II Driver's License.
