RESOLUTION NO. 738+
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI-
CATIONS FOR WORKING LINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifi-
cation of Working Line Mechanic Supervisor are hereby amended to
read in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 19th day of December, 1983.

WORKING LINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR Date Adopted:
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision --climbs poles in electrical construction and repair work, and super-
vises a small crew engaged in the work of construction and repair of electrical distribution
system lines; does related work as required. Acts as Line Mechanic Supervisor in his absence.
Representative Duties
Acts as a leadworker in supervising a small crew detached to perform specific smaller jobs in
the construction and repairing of electrical distribution system lines and extensions; as a
working member of the crew, climbs poles and performs other skilled electrical repair and
maintenance duties; works with the crew in making new service connections, in constructing
new substations and transformer banks; hangs transformers, tests lines, directs the instal-
lation of poles, keeps records of time and material used and results of all work done; re-
ports activities; responds to any emergency breaks in service and restores service; may stand
a regularly scheduled standby watch.
Organizational Responsibilities
Working Line Mechanic Supervisor is a supervisory class at the lead level found in the Light
and Power Department. This position reports to the Line.Mechanic Supervisor,
Electric Operations Supervisor, or the Utility Director, and is responsible for performing
line mechanic and lead supervision duties, depending upon the needs of the department. Stand-
by duty may be required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school, GED, or CHSPE Certificate; and
Two years'.experience as a journey -level line mechanic.
Knowledge and Abilities
Journey -level knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment and tools used in constructing,
repairing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical lines, extensions, services
and meters; State of California Electrical Safety Orders and Public Utility Commission
General Orders No. 95 and No. 128; the safety precautions of the trade; the installation and
maintenance of current, potential and phase shifting transformers, street light circuits and
equipment, and pumping equipment panels, controls and motors.
Ability to supervise small and large crews; climb poles and work at heights; read and inter-
pret line construction plans and written instructions; operate and supervise the operation
of heavy and light motorized equipment; apply first aid and artificial respiration; maintain
harmonious working relationships with other people; maintain work records and reports ac-
curately; skill in the use and care of the tools and equipment of the trade.
