HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7373RESOLUTION NO. 7373 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI- CATIONS FOR ELECTRIC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifica- tion of Electric Operations Supervisor are hereby amended to read in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 21st day of November, 1983. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting hereof held on the 21st day of November, 1983, by the following vote of Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NONE NONE • ELECTRIC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR JOB SUMMARY CITY OF AZUSA (Exhibit A) Under general direction --to coordinate and supervise the Construction and Maintenance Division of the Light and Power Department in the installation and maintenance of electrical distribution system including overhead and underground facilities. Assists the Utility Director in long-range planning on system expansion and improvement. Conducts field survey and engineering estimates, maintains distribution system maps and records, coordinates related work with contractors and other agencies. Representative Duties Plans and assists scheduling of work for field crews, performs field inspections, prepares cost estimates and work orders, assists in securing information on new commercial or industrial developments to determine its electrical requirement, coordinates with Central Stores to insure sufficient material for new installation and routine maintenance. Oversees joint pole operations which consist of correspondence, record keeping and occasional meeting attendance; keeps system maps current as to circuitry, transformer, and pole placements, checks all plans submitted involving electric utility facilities and recommends appropriate action. Directs operation of the electric system for switching and maintenance during normal and emergency conditions, evaluates work methods and procedures used in field operation, recommending improvement; acts as Acting Utility Director in his absence. Oroanizational Responsibilities This is a one -position class reporting to and working closely with the Utility Director and assisting him in the future planning and current operations of the Light and Power Department, including overhead, underground, street lighting, substation, metering, and related activities. As assistant to the Utility Director, supervises the Line Mechanic Supervisor, Working Line Mechanic Supervisors and Utility Yard Office Assistant, as required. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Experience and Training High school graduation, GED or CHSPE Certificate; and Eight years of experience in electric power distribution and transmission construction and maintenance work as a journey -level line mechanic, including two years of responsible supervisory experience. Knowledge and Abilities Thorough knowledge of overhead and underground electrical construction methods and standards, State of California Electrical Safety Orders and Public Utility Commission General Orders No. 95 and No. 128, principle of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuit and wiring systems, standard safety precautions. Basic knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimating and the principles of supervision and training. I of 2 Knowledge and Abilities (continued) Ability to comprehand electric rate schedules, rules and regulations, material standards and basic utility accounting, to express utility installation by simple mechanical drawings, to prepare simple reports and correspondence, and maintain effective working relationships with others.
