WHEREAS, between the time that he entered into City employment on November 1, 1946, as a Welder's Helper, and the day that he is retiring, December 31, 1983, thirty-seven years will have elapsed; over three decades of dedicated service by WILLIAM HASTINGS whose excellence, both personally and professionally, is largely offset by his self effacement; however, all who have benefitted by the fruits of his direction, advice, and counseling, can unanimously attest to his outstanding qualities, and WHEREAS, with his imminent retirement, another chapter shall be completed of the historical record of the City; a record that drastically changed during the period of his employment; a change from a citrus oriented bucolic town, to an almost submerged unit of the megalopolis that Los Angeles has become. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa unites in recognizing and commending the meritorious service provided by WILLIAM HASTINGS and further wishes the best of good fortune in his richly deserved retirement.
