A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI-
CATIONS FOR EQUIPMENT SUPERVISOR
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifica-
tion of Equipment Supervisor are hereby amended to read in
accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein
by reference.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 17th day of October, 1983.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly

EQUIPMENT SUPERVISOR
JOB SUMMARY
Date Adopted:
Under general direction - operates a garage as a working supervisor for the servicing,
maintenance, and storage of light and heavy automotive maintenance equipment;
directs and performs major and minor mechanical body and framework repairs on light and
heavy equipment; and does related work as required.
Representative Duties
Plans and makes out work schedules and assignments for employees of the Central Garage
engaged in servicing and repairing automotive and heavy equipment; determines priorities
of work to be done; inspects and reviews work in progress and upon completion; requisi-
tions and purchases tools and materials for equipment; in cooperation with operating
departments, recommends the purchase of new equipment; recommends whether automotive or
construction equipment should be repaired or replaced; inspects, diagnoses, and repairs
mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, and other heavy equipment used in road,
park, police, and utility maintenance work; disassembles engines and other mechanical
equipment and performs general overhaul repairs; designs new parts or assemblies for
equipment which will better adapt it for the City's use; keeps records of repairs made,
orders, and time worked; makes emergency repairs out of the shop; supervises the work
equipment mechanics and helpers; prepares budget estimates; maintains an inventory of
standard parts; may do occasional automotive body and fender repair work; continues to
keep abreast of new material, methods, and products.
Organizational Responsibilities
Equipment. Supervisor is a one -position supervisory level class in the Central Garage
under the direction of the Public Works Department. An employee in this class reports
to the Director of Public Works and supervises the activities of all employees within
the Central Garage.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school, G.E.D. Certificate, or trade school with a major in auto
mechanics; and
Five years of journeyman level automotive repair experience.
Additional Skilled or supervisory experience may be substituted for the required educa-
tion on a year -for year basis, to a maximum of two years.
Knowledges and Abilities
A thorough knowledge of the construction of automotive and other mechanical equipment
repair, and maintenance; planning and carrying out efficient and economic repairs to
such equipment; the theory, care, and operation on internal combustion engines; shop
records and parts supplies; principles of supervision, organization, and training;
administration, budgeting, and stock control.

Ability to follow oral and written directions; do work requiring physical strength;
maintain good relationships with superiors, subordinates, and the public; diagnose
mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance and repair work; prepare
reports.
Skills
Operate various types of power tools such as lathes, drill presses, valve grinding
machines, brake relining machines and portable drills; gas and arc welding.
