HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7262RESOLUTION NO-. 1262 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFICA- TIONS FOR ELECTRIC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifi- cation of Electric Operations Supervisor are amended to -read in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and -incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of May, 1983. AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DECKER, HART, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS; NONE V4, MAN IDIOM= WE I I " ELECTRIC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR JOB SUKHARY CITY OF AZUSA • Exhibit A Date Adopted: Under general direction --assists in coordinating and supervising field crews in the installation and maintenance of electrical overhead and underground lines; assists in planning electric utility installation and maintenance activities, including maintaining liaison with other utilities, other departments, and major consumers; makes field surveys and estimates and maintains systems maps and records; and assumes and performs related responsibilities and duties as required. Representative Duties Assists in planning work in scheduling field crews and preparing work orders for them; coordinates field crews activities through field inspections; prepares cost estimates and analyzes job costs; prepares joint pole agreements with other utilities and keeps joint pole records; keeps system maps current as to circuitry, voltage, and pole placements; checks plans submitted on public works projects to determine involvement with underground and overhead utility lines and recommends cooperative working arrangements with other departments; meets with major consumers to determine size and type of service required; acts for the Utility Director when directed, or in his absence. Organizational Responsibilities This is a one -position class reporting to and working closely with the Utility Director and asis- ting him in the future planning and current operations of the Light and Power Department, includ- ing overhead, underground, street lighting, substation, metering, and related activities. As assistant to the Utility Director, supervises the Line Mechanic Supervisor, Working Line Mechanic Supervisors, and Utility Yard Office Assistant, as required. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience High school graduation, GED or CHSPE Certificate; and Five years of experience in electric power distribution and transmission construction and main- tenance work as a journey -level line mechanic, including two years of responsible supervisory experience. Knowledge and Abilities Thorough knowledge of overhead and underground electrical construction methods; State of Californi Electrical Safety Orders and Public Utility Commission General Orders No. 95 and No. 128. Good knowledge of the economic sizing of overhead and underground conductors needed to carry specific loads with a given power loss and voltage drop. Knowledge of methods used in computing the structural requirements of overhead lines. Basic knowledge of budget preparation, statistics, project cost estimating, and the principles of management, supervision, and training. 1. !Ability to learn electric rate schedules, rules and regulations, material standards, distribution and transmission construction standards and methods of the Light and Power Department; plan and sketch out working drawings for the construction of electrical installations; elementary drafting; keep system maps and office and statistical records; estimate and calculate costs of overhead and Underground installations; maintain effective working relationships with other people.
