A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI-
CATIONS FOR ELECTRIC LINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
AND CHANGING TITLE TO LINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classifi-
cations of Electric Line Mechanic Supervisor are amended to read
in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 16th day of May, 1983.

JOB St!TNIARY
Under direction --supervises the work of a crew in constructing, maintaining and operating
substations, electrical distribution and street lighting, and overhead and underground
electrical systems; and does related work as required.
Representative Duties
Supervises Forking Line Mechanic Supervisor, Line Mechanics, Apprentice Line Mechanic and
Line Mechanic Helpers in the construction, maintenance and operation of substations, over-
head and underground street lighting and distribution systems, materials and associated
equipment, and in the installation and removal of poles, crossarms, conductors, trans-
formers, meters and equipment, street light standards, luminaires, regulators, underground
cables and cable splicing and potheading, substation equipment, house and conunercial
services, trimming trees for power line clearance, washing of primary insulators, replace-
ment of street light lamps and equipment; sees that needed materials and supplies are at
the job and that subordinates are observing safety regulations; keeps time, material, and
other records; may stand a regularly scheduled standby watch.
Ori�anizational Rc-sponsibilities
Line Mechanic Supervisor is the first level supervisory class found in the Light and Power
Department. This position reports to the Electric Operations Supervisor and the Utility
Director; supervises the work of assigned Line Mechanics, Apprentice Line Mechanic, Line
Mechanic Helpers, and Forking Line ';echanic Supervisor; is responsible for the safety of
personnel and equipment and the proper completion of each project assigned. Employees in
this class may be assigned to standby and are subject to emergency call out. Because of
varying work requirements and workloads, the number and types of personnel assigned to the
Line Mechanic Supervisor may vary throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Graduation from high school, GED or CHSPE Certificate; and
Three years' experience as a journey -level line mechanic.
Knowledge and Abilities
Journey -level knowledge of the techniques, tools, equipment and materials used in the line
mechanic trade in connection with both overhead and underground distribution systems and
equipment; State of California Electrical Safety Orders and Public Utility Commission
General Orders No. 95 and No. 128; the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the
trade; the installation, operation, and maintenance of current, potential, and phase shift-
ing transformers and of circuit breakers, meters pumping equipment panels and other elec-
trical equipment; the equipment and practices used in maintaining and operating a substation;
the- installation, testing, and repiar of single phase, polyphase, demand, and other types
of electric meters.
Ability to supervise small and large crews; climb poles and work at heights; read and
interpret line construction plans and written instructions; operate and supervise the
operation of heavy and light motorized equipment; apply first aid and artificial respi-
ration; and maintain harmonious working relationships with other people; maintain work
records and reports accurately; skill in the use and care of the tools and equipment of
the trade.
