HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 72590 0 RESOLUTION NO. 7259 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFI- CATIONS FOR LINE MECHANIC THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classi- fication of Line Mechanic are hereby amended to read in accor- dance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 16th day of May, 1983. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting hereof held on the 16th day of May, 1983, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DECKER, HART, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE TY CLERK 0 LINE MECHANIC JOB SUMMARY CITY OF AZUSA Exhibit A 0 Date Adopted: Under general supervision --performs skilled electrical work in the construc- tion, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical trans- mission, distribution, and street lighting systems; and does related work as required. Representative Duties Works with high tension lines, installs, maintains and repairs overhead lines, does trouble shooting; replaces, removes or repairs overhead cross - arms; strings and taps overhead lines; installs street lights; removes old poles and fixtures; transfers energized lines to larger transformers; makes emergency repairs on primary and secondary wires and transformers; installs, maintains,and repairs underground cable lines; may supervise and train those learning the line mechanic trade; may do maintenance work in substations; may trim trees to protect electrical equipment; may stand a regularly scheduled standby watch. Organizational Responsibilities Line Mechanic is the skilled journey -level class in the Light and Power Department responsible for electrical installations and maintenance work of broad variety. Because the department is relatively small, this class is also responsible for troubleshooting and for underground cable work. Standby duty may be required and assigned. An employee is this class is supervised by a Line Mechanic Supervisor or Working Line Mechanic Supervisor and works with the assistance of one or more Line Mechanic Helpers. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience Graduation from high school, GED or CHSPE Certificate; and Recognized status as a journey -level line mechanic. Three years' experience as an Apprentice Line Mechanic may be substituted for journey -level status. Knowledge and Abilities Journey -level knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques of the line mechanic trade; the installation, operation, and maintenance of over- head and underground transmission lines; State of California Electrical Safety Orders and Public Utility Commission General Orders No. 95 and No. 128; safety requirements of the trade, electrical theory and terminology. Ability to climb poles and work at heights; maintain harmonious relations with other employees, work alone and with others safely; follow oral and written directions; learn related aspects of the work required.
