RESOLUTION NO. 7420
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA HONORING AND COMPIENDING JIMMIE
HOLLAND.
WHEREAS, To the question: "am I my brother's keeper?"
Police Officer Jimmie Holland answered "Yes" when
he saved the life of an infant, about 12 months
old, who had slipped under the water in the bathtub
of the family residence. The mother had left the
infant unattended for a short period of time, and
WHEREAS, Officer Holland, who was on routine Patrol in the
neighborhood, heard the mother's cry for help and
went to the assistance of the drowning victim. The
officer entered the residence and made contact with
the victim who had no heartbeat. Officer Holland
immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The infant responded and began breathing. Shortly,
after, the paramedics arrived at the scene. The
infant was transferred to a nearby hospital for
examination and observation, and later released to
her parents in good health, and
WHEREAS, Acts such as this, considered routine and part of
everyday police work, that are all too often over-
looked and go unnoticed, deserve special recognition
in order to accomplish two ends: First to manifest
personal appreciation to Officer Holland; Secondly,
to publicize widely a beneficial and positive act by
a policeman in the service of the City of Azusa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Azusa, united in extending its most sincere appreciation and commen-
dation to Officer Jimmie Holland for his rapid and efficiently taken
action thus upholding the highest ideals of public order and safety.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 6th day of February, 1984.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 6th day of February, 1984, by the following vote
of Council:
