HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 73999 RESOLUTION N0. 7399 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING EDWARD A. COONEY FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, during the Great Depression, often times large families couldn't afford shoes for all the children; this meant that they couldn't all attend school together, giving rise to a saying that describes a person with an advantage: "The one who's wearing the shoes,", and WHEREAS, as Mayor, Councilman, Planning Commissioner, Finance Officer and Assistant City Administrator, EDWARD A. COONEY served the City of Azusa from Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-nine to Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-three, performing the duties of each office in an exemplary manner, and WHEREAS, all of the above activities, indicate a resident who, over the years, has been actively involved in community affairs, never seeking personal advancement or gain, always expressing concern for public benefit; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa, recognizing the many instances of advancement of the public good, unite in commending EDWARD A. COONEY for all that he has done to benefit the City and its residents.
