HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7553RESOLUTION NO. 7553 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING THE JOB SPECIFI- CATIONS FOR PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The job specifications for the classi- fication of Park Maintenance Supervisor are hereby adopted to read in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 4th day of September, 1984 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting hereof held on the 4th day of September, 1984, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: CRUZ, COOK, CAMARENA, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE CIT)V CLERK • CITY OF AZUSA • Date Adopted (Exhibit A) PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR JOB SUiRRARY Under direction - plans and directs as well as works with crews engaged in the maintenance of turf, landscaped areas, street trees, median strips and park facilities; and does related work as required. Representative Duties Supervises and assists several crews engaged in general and specialized grounds maintenance activities. Plans and makes work assignments for subordinates engaged in the maintenance and landscaping of park grounds and the maintenance of buildings, swimming pool, and recreational facilities in parks. Inspects and reviews the work of subordinates; plans and supervises the layout and installation of athletic fields and recreation areas; checks playground equipment for safety requirements. Plans and supervises park tree trimming and tree removal; plans and supervises the planting and spraying of trees, shrubs and grasses; plans and supervises the installation and maintenance of pipelines and sprinkler systems; helps select trees, shrubs and grasses to be planted. Enforces standard safety measures and directs safety meetings in the proper use of machinery and tools; makes recommendations for improved methods of work and safety. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Park Maintenance Supervisor.is a one -position, supervisory class within the Community Develo-Iment/Plannir.g.Department.. An. employee of. this class reports to the Park Superintenc:ent. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and EXperience High school graduation or equivalent, supplemented with college work in a related field; e.g., Ornamental Horticulture. Park Maintenance, Management, etc.. A.A. degree desirable; and four years of extensive landscaping experience, two of which must have been in a supervisory position. Knowledge of modern me.'.�ods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the planting, cultivation, and propagating of trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns; maintenance and repair of park buildings and equipment; plant diseases and pests common to the area and the means of their control and eradication; maintenance, repair and proper care of street trees and light -powered equipment. Paine 1 of 2 (PROPOSED SPEC SHEET) 0 Park Maintenance Supervisor Page 2 of 2 Ability to plan and supervise park maintenance and other beautification projects; direct the layout, installation, repair and maintenance of sprinklers and simple drainage systems; establish and maintain pleasant and cooperative working relationships with employees and the general public; use tact, good judgment and firmness when necessary to enforce laws and regulations covering the public improvements for which Supervisor is responsible; direct the various trade skills required in park and tree maintenance. Certificates and Licenses Class 3 Valid California Driver's Licenes required. Certified Commercial Applicator License -- CateQory "R" desired.
