Assembly Bill No. 1416, introduced by Messrs.
Tenney and Glick, was read.

A contract for Mazda lamps was presented by
Cook -Nichols Company.
No action taken.
Mr. Roy G. Davis addressed the Council
relative to a new metal ladder to be used by
firemen.
Moved and carried that the matter of supply-
ing a telephone for Fred Frye, Building
Inspector, and setting a salary for Police
Woman Elena Aguilar, be referred to the City
Council to be taken up at the regular ad-
journed meeting.
Fred Stone requested new towels, spring board
and mat for the swimming pool.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that this matter be
referred to the Chairman of the Purchasing
Committee with power to act.

Mr. Smith, Secretary of the Chamber of
Commerce reported on the matter of a por-
tion of lots 13, 140 15 in Block 37 being
used for a parking lot. He learned, upon
investigation, that Mr. Orndoff protested
the use of the property for parking as it
adjoins his propertymembers of his
family are ill and, 941•present conditions

Mr. Putnam presented a petition, with 57
names of property owners attached thereto,
requesting the City Council to open Vernon
Avenue from Ninth Street to Foothill Boulevard.
