HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 75440 RESOLUTION NO. 7544 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING CERTAIN OF ITS MEMBERS TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT REGARDING CITY MEASURES, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS. WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Azusa, California, on November 6, 1984, at which there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said City proposed measures relating to the office of the Mayor; said proposed measures shall be as set forth in Exhibits attached hereto; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That this City Council, being the legislative body of the City of Azusa hereby authorizes: LUCIO D. CRUZ, MAYOR PRO -TEM JIM COOK, COUNCILMEMBER BRUCE LATTA, COUNCILMEMBER members of said body, to file a written argument in favor of the measure to appoint the Mayor - Exhibit "A" attached hereto, inaccordance with Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 5 of the Elections Code of the State of California and to change said argument until and including the date fixed by the City Clerk, after which no arguments for or against said City measure may be submitted to the City Clerk. SECTION 2. That this City Council, being the legislative body of the City of Azusa hereby authorizes: ARMANDO L. CAMARENA, COUNCILMEMBER member of said body, to file a written argument in favor of the measure to extend the term of office of Mayor to four years rather than two years, Exhibit "B" attached hereto, inaccordance with Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 5 of the Elections Code of the State of California and to change said argument until and including the date fixed by the City Clerk, after which no arguments for or against said City measure may be submitted to the City Clerk. SECTION 3. That the City Council directs the City Clerk to transmit a copy of the measures to the City Attorney, unless the organization or salaries of the office of the City Attorney are affected. The City Attorney shall prepare an impartial analysis of the measures showing the effect of the measures on the existing law and the operation of the measures. If the measures affect the organization or salaries of the office of the City Attorney, the City Clerk shall prepare the impartial analysis. The impartial analysis shall be filed by the date set by the City Clerk for filing of primary arguments.
