RESOLUTION NO. 7768
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING THE CLASS SPECIFICATION
FOR ASSISTANT CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AND
ESTABLISHING A SALARY RANGE THEREFOR .
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:'
SECTION 1. The class specification for Assistant
Code Enforcement Officer is hereby adopted in its entirety
in accordance with Exhibit "A" attached and incorporated herein
by reference.
SECTION 2. The salary range for Assistant Code
Enforcement Officer shall be Range 168, $1519.24 - $1846.65 per
month.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 19th day of August, 1985.

duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a
regular meeting hereof on the 19th day of August, 1985, by the

DEFINITION
CITY OF AZUSA
To assist in the enforcement of occupancy, zoning, land use, and public nuisance and
related code provisions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
General and specific supervision is provided by the Code Enforcement Officer. Tech-
nical and functional supervision may be provided by higher level professional and/or
technical personnel.
No supervision is exercised.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but not be limited to the following:
Enforce a variety of occupancy, public nuisance, zoning and land use regulations for
residences.
Inspect premises to verify, detect and advise property owners of violations of code
provisions.
Identify overweight or abandoned vehicles and enforce related ordinances.
Respond to complaints of alleged violations and thoroughly investigate.
Investigate suspected violations of health, safety, zoning, public nuisance, or
other code violations and take follow-up actions as necessary to ensure compliance.
Enforce city ordinances with regard to such activities as home occupations, storage of
vehicles, nonconforming land uses, signing, and related codes and ordinances.
Issue citations and testifys in administrative hearings and court as required.
Maintain inspection files and records.
Write reports, chronologies, and citation narratives, maintain daily statistical logs.
Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: General characteristics of zoning, health, safety, public
nuisance, and business license codes and regulations enforceable by the city;
city services and municipal organizational structure as they relate to code
enforcement.
Ability to: Learn the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of code
enforcement, including familiarity with current criminal law and enforcement
within a reasonable period of time on-the-job;
Enforce provisions of the municipal code with efficiency and impartiality.
Learn geography of the city, including the location and layout of streets.

QUALIFICATIONS (cont.)
Learn and explain fire codes, parking ordinances, land use regulations, and to
apply this knowledge to specific work situations.
Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for service in a fair, tactful
and firm manner.
Identify code sections which pertain to potential violations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally, and in writing.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Work without immediate supervision.
Experience and Education: Any combination of experience and education that
would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A
typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: One (1) year of full-time work experience in public
contact work.
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
License or Certificate: Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the
California Department of Motor Vehicles.
