HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7761RESOLUTION 7761 WHEREAS, in 1974 the 93rd Congress enacted "The Housing and Community Development Act" (Public Law 93-383), establishing a Community Development Block Grant program to provide resources to meet a variety of urban needs; and WHEREAS, this Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program has provided annual assistance to local governments, through a formula approach, resulting in maximum certainty and minimum funding delays; and WHEREAS, the CDBG program has given local government a financial tool for long-range planning by placing the responsibility for identifying needs and developing activities to meet those needs at the local level; and WHEREAS, this legislation has provided the framework for bringing into Los Angeles County approximately $250 million in federal funds during the past decade, thereby making Los Angeles County the largest Urban County program in the nation; and WHEREAS, this federal program has contributed to significant accomplishments throughout the County to help meet our need for affordable housing, economic and community revitalization; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Azusa that August 29, 1985 be declared COMMUNITY DEVELOPMET BLOCK GRANT DAY to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Community Development Block Grant Program and that the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County be commended for thier administration of this outstanding federal program. Adopted and approved this 5th day of August, 1985.
