CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MAY 24, 1937.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met
in regular adjourned session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold,
Chester, Carr, City Attorney and City Clerk.
The City Clerk announced that she had
received eight (8) sealed bids in answer to
"Notice to Contractors" inviting sealed bids
for furnishing and installing complete one
deep -well turbine pump, electrical motor,
starting equipment and other necessary
appurtenances at Well No. 3 of the Water
Department of the City of Azusa.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the bids be now
opened, examined and publicly declared.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

A communication, relative to City of Azusa Communication
requisitions No. 1634 and 1635 made to Byran ordered placed on
Jackson Company, was read and ordered placed file.

Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Bids referred to
Councilman McIntire that the bids be referred Paul E. Kressly and
to Consulting Engineer Paul E. Kressly and Jack Pierce
Superintendent of the Water Department, Jack
Pierce for analysis and report.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the Council recess
for thirty minutes.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
At the end of this period the meeting was
resumed.
Councilman Chester offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA REJECTING ALL BIDS OR PROPOSALS
SUBMITTED IN THE MATTER OF FURNISHING AND
INSTALLING ELECTRICAL MOTOR, TURBINE PUMP,
AND OTHER APPURTENANCES AT WELL NO. 3 OF THE
WATER DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY AND AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF SAME IN THE OPEN MARIET.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Chester that this Resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.
1528.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL. MAY 243 1937,
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Chester that it be resolved that
in the opinion of Council the necessary
equipment and installation of same, for Well
No, 3 in accordance with plans and specifi-
cations bid on this day, can be furnished
and obtained at a lower price in the open
market than that contained in the bids this
day opened, and that the Council, as a
Committee of the Whole, together with Con-
sulting Engineer Paul E. Kressly and Super-
intendent of Water Department Jack Pierce, be
authorized to go into the open market to pur-
chase said equipment for installing pump and
appurtenances thereto for Well No. 3.

Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
THEREUPON Council recessed for ten minutes,
and met as a Committee of the Whole on the
subject of the purchase of equipment for
Well No. 3, and conferred with Mr. Pierce
the Superintendent of Water and Mr. Kressly
the Consulting Engineer.
At the end of said ten minutes recess, Council
again convened, and received the report of the
Committee of the Whole.
V=REUPON the City Council, as a Committee of
the Whole, upon the recommendation of Jack
Pierce, Superintendent of the Water Depart-
ment and of Paul E. Kressly. Consulting
Engineer, reported that one deep well turbine
pump, electric motor, starting equipment and
other necessary appurtenances for City Well
No. 3, all in conformity with the plans and
specifications on file in the office of the
Superintendent of Water, could be purchased
by the City of Azusa from Bryon Jackson Company.
at a total price of $p7,146,70 plus 3% Califor-
nia State Sales Tax, less 3% cash discount
thirty days after complete installation, which
purchase price is approximately $662.00 less
than the lowest of the sealed bids heretofore
received and rejected, for the same equipment.

IT WAS THEREUPON MOVED by Councilman Strohmeier,
seconded by Councilman McIntire that the above
report of the City Council as Committee of the
Whole, upon recommendation by Jack Pierce,
Superintendent of the 'Vater Department and of
Paul E. Kressly, Consulting Engineer, be
accepted and adopted, and the the purchase
enumerated in said report of the Committee
of the Whole at $7,146.70 plus sales tax and
less discount as aforesaid, be made, per
Purchase Orders.

Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None, Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the City of Azusa
Purchase Order No. 1636, dated December 12,
1936, made to the Pacific Pump Company, be
cancelled, inasmuch as same has been dis-
regarded by the Pacific Pump Company.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None, Absent: None.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CAL-
IFORNIA, DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
DISMISS WITH PREJUDICE CASE NUMBER 6 ON
THE DOCKETS OF THE CITY COURT OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA IN WHICH CASE SAID CITY IS
PLAINTIFF AND CLIFFORD 0. FIEDLER IS
DEFENDANT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
TO ACCEPT THE SUM OF $72.00 FROM SAID
FIEDLER BY WAY OF LICENSE FEES AND IN
SETTLEMENT OF SAID CASE.
