HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 7878• • RESOLUTION NO. 7878 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING CHARLES COFFIN FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY WHEREAS, the City of Azusa has undergone many changes since 1954. Problems have changed their forms greatly. Some problems didn't even exist then. To have served the City as a Policeman has required of a person the ability to almost continuously adapt to a constantly changing setting, and WHEREAS, such a person is SERGEANT CHARLES COFFIN an Azusa Policeman since July First, Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-four, who has seen local law enforcement change, as it were, from a one-dimensional semi -rural informality to a complex of many -faceted legal and ethical norms, and WHEREAS, through it all, SERGEANT COFFIN has retained his optimistic poise and personality, viewing whatever official powers he possesses only as a tool of last resort; in this way gaining a level of trust and friendship with the lay citizenry seldom enjoyed by law enforcement personnel; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA unites in commending SERGEANT CHARLES COFFIN for consistently performing exemplary Police service, thereby providing the City with a high level of security, seldom equalled; further it extends its good wishes for a long, richly deserved happy life of retirement. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this Eighteenth day of February, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-six. r. ,./..
