RESOLUTION NO. 7878
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA COMMENDING CHARLES COFFIN
FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City of Azusa has undergone many changes since 1954. Problems
have changed their forms greatly. Some problems didn't even exist
then. To have served the City as a Policeman has required of
a person the ability to almost continuously adapt to a constantly
changing setting, and
WHEREAS, such a person is
SERGEANT CHARLES COFFIN
an Azusa Policeman since July First, Nineteen Hundred and
Fifty-four, who has seen local law enforcement change, as it were,
from a one-dimensional semi -rural informality to a complex of
many -faceted legal and ethical norms, and
WHEREAS, through it all, SERGEANT COFFIN has retained his optimistic
poise and personality, viewing whatever official powers he possesses
only as a tool of last resort; in this way gaining a level of
trust and friendship with the lay citizenry seldom enjoyed by
law enforcement personnel;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA unites in
commending
SERGEANT CHARLES COFFIN
for consistently performing exemplary Police service, thereby providing the City with
a high level of security, seldom equalled; further it extends its good wishes for
a long, richly deserved happy life of retirement.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this Eighteenth day of February, Nineteen
Hundred and Eighty-six.
