HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 78610 0 RESOLUTION NO. 7861 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ON THE EFFECTIVI- NESS OF ITS TRAFFIC SOBRIETY CHECK PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Intoxication in and of itself is a debilitating influence on our society; however, in conjunction with rapid and mindless transport, totally dependent on the control and guidance of a rational human being, with loss of rationality and split second judgement, vehicles become machines capable of maiming and killing the innocent in their path, and WHEREAS, The establishment of sobriety check points, and a procedure for weeding drunk drivers from traffic exiting the San Gabriel Canyon, has done much to remove this dangerous factor from our heavily traveled streets during peak weekend periods. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa, well -aware of the past record of traffic mayhem issuing from the popular San Gabriel recreation areas, commends the Police Department for taking this aggressive step and thereby, if not completely solving, at least alleviating a growing menace to the order, security and safety of our streets.
