RESOLUTION NO. 7861
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT ON THE EFFECTIVI-
NESS OF ITS TRAFFIC SOBRIETY CHECK
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Intoxication in and of itself is a debilitating
influence on our society; however, in conjunction
with rapid and mindless transport, totally dependent
on the control and guidance of a rational human
being, with loss of rationality and split second
judgement, vehicles become machines capable of maiming
and killing the innocent in their path, and
WHEREAS, The establishment of sobriety check points, and a
procedure for weeding drunk drivers from traffic
exiting the San Gabriel Canyon, has done much to
remove this dangerous factor from our heavily traveled
streets during peak weekend periods.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Azusa, well -aware of the past record of traffic mayhem issuing from
the popular San Gabriel recreation areas, commends the Police Department
for taking this aggressive step and thereby, if not completely solving,
at least alleviating a growing menace to the order, security and safety
of our streets.
