CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. JULY 65 1937.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester
Carr, City Clerk. Absent: City Attoneny.
The minutes of the last regular meeting
of June 21st and the Special Session of
June 28, 1937, were read and approved
as read.
A communication from P. E. Warner, Auditor
for the Title insurance and Trust Company
relative to the Vosburg Memorial Clinic,
was read.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
instructed to write Mr. Warner requesting
an explanation of the report rendered.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None.

A communication from W. A. Smith, Field Secretary
First Supervisorial District, relative to a
hearing, before the Board of Supervisors, for Communication read
a permit to operate a hog ranch near Azusa,
was read.
Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
AZUSA, PROTESTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A HOG RESOLUTION READ
AND CHICKEN RANCH IN, OR NE AR, THE CITY OF
AZUSA.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that this resolution be
adopted as read.
The following vote was recorded:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, C4ester.
Noes: Councilman: Strohmeier
Absent: None.
Not Voting: Councilmen: Arnold, Carr.
After the vote had been taken Councilman
Strohmeier requested that his vote be
not counted.
A communication signed by Wm. Schlange, re- Matter of supply
questing that City Water be installed, for ing Mr. Schlange ,
use at his Dairy Ranch, on San Gabriel ranch with water
Canyon Road, was read. referred to Supt.
of Water Dept.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Chester that this matter be
referred to the City Attorney and Jack
Pierce, Superintendent of Light and Water
to report back a t the next regular meeting
of the Council.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier,
McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: none,
Absent: None.
An application offered by Ed Thompson, for
the position of Traffic Officer, was read.
Moved and carried that same be accepted and Application order
placed on file. ed placed on file

Mayor Carr appointed George N. Hale to
serve on the Library Board from July 1.
1937 to June 30, 1940.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the Council
approve the action of the Mayor.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
' Bulletin No. 17 of the League of Calif-
ornia Municipalities was -read and ordered
placed on file.
Councilman Chester offered a Resolution
entitled:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, COU1jTY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, RESOLUTION NO. 1533
TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ADOPTED
($5000) FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO THE
WATER FUND.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 1533.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strobigeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the following
' Business Lien be awarded the City business
for the month of July:
Dr. W. G. Wheatley, Foothill Drug Store,
Ford Garage, Union Oil Station, Wix Cafd;
Williams Lumber Yard. C. H. Howard and
Morgan Hardware.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier,
McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes:
None. Absent: gone.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the City Clerk be
authorized and instructed to request Mr.
J. C. Muehe to write a bond, in the amount
of $1000 to cover License Collector, Paul
E. Smith.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr, Moes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier seconded by
' Councilman McIntire that Councilman Arnold
be instructed to contact the Los Angeles
County Fire Department to secure a Los
Angeles County Relief truck to be placed
on duty while the Seagrave Truck is beim
repaired.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that J. R. Sitton be
authorized and instructed to repair the
Seagrave Truck, the amount of labor and
Business Men awarded
City business

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the City Clerk
be instructed to check the Insurance Police
which the City carries on the Slouson
Memorial Pool and to request the Instrance
(company to reimburse the City for money
' paid to Dr. Cook for services rendered when
one of the patrons of the pool was injured.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Chester that Marlow Madison be
employed to redecorate the Offices of the
Light and Water Departments, the City Clerk's
Office and the Hallway in the City Hall
Building. Carried by the following vote of
the Council: Ayes: Councilman Strohmeier,
McI-Rtire, Arnold, Chester, Carr. Noes: None.
Absent: None,
Dr. Sandoval addressed the Council relative
to the use of water on the play ground at the
Azusa Clinic.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that this matter be
referred to the Superintendent of Vater and
Light.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the following re-
