CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. JULY 20, 1937. 2:00 P. M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular adjourned session at the
above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Chester,
Carr, City Attorney and City Clerk.
Mrs. Bob Robinson appeared before the
Council requesting a more efficient head of the
police department.
' Chief Bierbower appeared before the Council
and stated that he arrested Mr. Walters
and took him before the Judge and the
Judge dismissed him.
Officer Meyer was summoned to appear
before the Council.
Officer Meyer briefly outlined the call
for police protection and the results of
said action.
The matter was referred to the Mayor for
instructions to the Chief.
Consulting Engineer Paul E. Kressly
appeared before the Council stating that
he and the Superintendent of Light and
Water have made a careful check of all
light and power rates and had concluded
that it will be possible to reduce the
power rates to correspond with those of
the Edison Company.
Roll call.
Mrs. Robinson
addressed the
Council.
Chief Bierbower
appeared before the
Counci.
Officer Meyer
summoned before the
Council.
Consulting Engineer
Kressly appeared
before the Council
with suggestions on
power rates.
' Thereupon Councilman McIntire offered an
Ordinance entitled:
All ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA ESTABLISHING RATES TO -BE CHARGED FOR ELECTRIC
SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 307 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR
PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
to be placed upon its first reading.
The Ordinance was then read for the
first time.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that Jack Pierce,
Superintendent of Light and Water be
instructed to erect a pump house at #3
well at an approximate cost of $1750.00.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the Superinten-
dent of the Light and Water Departments
' be instructed to advertise for bids for
a billing machine for use in the Collectors
office.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Chester offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
APPOINTING CERTAIN EMPLOYEES AND FIXING
THE SALARIES OR COMPENSATION THEREOF.
Superintendent of
Light and Water
Authorized to erect
a pump house at #3
well.
Superintendent of
Light and Water
authorized to
advertise for bids
for billing machine.
RESOLUTION NO. 1535
ADOPTED.
MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. JULY 20, 1937.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that this Resolution
be adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 1535.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr,
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the Council accept
' and adopt the budget for the Light and
Water Departments, prepared by Crenshaw,
Diehl and Wright.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Strohmeier, McIntire,
Arnold, Chester, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

Mr. Marion Moya appeared before the Council
and asked if his application for on -sale of
beer and wine license,was approved.
Mr. Stotlar appeared before the Council
stating that he lived next door to Mr.
Moyals place of business and he had not
been disturbed.
Whereupon Mr. Moya was advised of the action
already taken by the Council.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier and duly carried that
the Council adjourn.

that the Council
accept the 1937-38
budget for the
Light and Water
Departments.
Mr. Moya and Mr.
Stotler appeared
before the Council.
Mr. Moya advised of
Council's action.
