A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION OF COMMUNITY
SERVICES OFFICER AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY THEREFOR.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The class specifications of Community Services
Officer are hereby adopted in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A
attached and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. The salary range for Community Services Officer
shall be Range 164 ($1,609.61 - $1,956.49 per month).
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 7th day of July, 1986.

Exhibit A
Under general supervision, performs non -hazardous support duties
related to prevention of crime and the protection of life and
property. This non -sworn, non -peace officer position requires
shift work as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
As assigned to Operations Division as a Community Services Officer,
operates a marked police vehicle enforcing parking laws and direc-
ting traffic. Issues parking citations, investigates minor traffic
accidents, appears in court as required, responds to non -hazardous
report calls, investigates and collects evidence and completes reports
involving burglaries, thefts, malicious mischief, and other crimes.
Receives prisoners, conducts jail bookings, photographs and finger-
prints prisoners, maintains inventory of departmental property and
supplies. Performs related clerical work as required.
As assigned to Administrative Division as a Community Services Officer,
prepares and presents Crime Prevention Programs within the community,
gives oral presentations, lectures in the community on bicycle safety,
personal protection, home protection and other areas of public aware-
ness. Maintains security and legal chain of control of evidence;
transports evidence to crime laboratory for analysis, maintains
related records and clerical duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A Community Services Officer is a non -sworn employee who performs in
a support capacity to the operations of the Azusa Police Department.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. Certificate. College level
work in Police Science or related field is desirable. Experience
in filing and records keeping also desirable.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
A high degree of general intelligence, verbal facility, memory,
and the ability to deal with the public. Must have a good
knowledge of the English language, write clear and accurate
reports, understand and follow oral directions. Ability to use
and care for automobiles and other City Property. Possess keen
observation and ability to remember names, faces, and details of

incidents; ability to learn radio codes and operation of radio;
ability to learn state and local laws and apply to a given set of
circumstances.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum age: 18 years at time of appointment.
2. Hearing: Ability to pass a closed booth
audiogram examination at a minimum
of 25 decibels and discern a whisper
at 15 feet.
3. Vision: Normal visual function and acuity, not
less than 20/70 in each eye without
correction and corrected to 20/20 in
each eye with normal color vision.
LICENSE
Valid California Class 3 Driver's License.
Must be free from felony convictions.
