HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8091N 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 8091 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION OF FIELD SERVICE SUPERVISOR AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The class specifications of Field Service Supervisor are hereby adopted in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The salary range for Field Service Supervisor shall be Range 189 ($2064.21 - $2509.06 per month). SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. Directs, supervises, and assists Meter Readers and Consumer Service personnel in the performance of their duties. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is an advanced journey class in the Field Service and Meter Reader class series for which prior experience is required. Incumbent assigned to this class will normally be assigned more difficult and complex field service problems. They are expected to work more independently and assume high responsibility for field service assignments. Incumbent also provides lead supervision to Field Service Representatives and Meter Readers. Acts as an assistant to the Consumer Service Manager in the division's day-to-day operational functions. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision is provided by the Consumer Service Manager. Direct supervision of Meter Readers and Field Service Representatives. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limtied to, the following: Receive and investigate customer complaints and requests for service. Turn electricity and water services on and off. Meet with customers, interpret and explain electric and water utility service policies and procedures. Notify customers when service is to be shut off due to unpaid bills. May periodically read electric and water meters on an assigned route, record readings and make necessary calculations to complete cycle readings. Check to determine consistency of meter readings and report unusual cases to the Consumer Service Manager. Page 1 of 3 0 0 FTEL!" SERVICE SUPERVISOR -- (cont.) Check to see that meters are registering properly and investigate such conditions as meter being inoperative, leaking, and other defects of suspicious conditions. Report violations of the rules and regulations governing electric and water consumption, conditions that may necessitate a change in rate for the service rendered, or in type of meters. Tactfully respond to citizen inquiries and complaints. May perform minor repairs to electric and water meters as required; reset and reseal meters. Supervise and make occasional field inspections and on-site reviews of subordinate employees and prepare written progress reports when required. Assist Consumer Service Manager in reviewing and evaluating employees' job performance and may recommend personnel action. Train new employees. Schedule daily work load for Meter Readers as well as Customer Service Representatives. Maintain records and schedule vehicles for maintenance. Perform related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Safety procedures for connecting and disconnecting electric meters. The geography and streets of the utility system. City policies and procedures regarding the utility service. Common causes and remedies for consumption problems. Knowledge of how utility meters are read and how related information is compiled, translated and utilized. Thorough knowledge of the problems ordinarily encountered in utility meter reading operation and the ability to resolve such problems. Page 2 of 3 SERVICE SUPERVISOR -- (cont.) Ability to: Plan, schedule and supervise the work load of a utility meter reading operation as well as consumer service operation. Ability to understand and evaluate meter readings. Investigate and determine reasons for unusual electric and water consumption, low water pressure and other service problems. Understand and carry out written and oral directions. Explain City policies and procedures in a tactful and effective manner. Perform general clerical work. Work outdoors in all types of weather. Experience and Education Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Five (5) years of experience performing consumer service work, including two (2) years of meter reading experience. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. License or Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Page 3 of 3
