HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8173RESOLUTION NO. 8173 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING THE POLICY AND PROCEDURE FOR THE USE OF DRUG SCREENS FOR PROSPECTIVE CITY EMPLOYEES. WHEREAS, it is the wish and desire of the City Council to have a drug-free workforce in order to protect and preserve the public health, safety, welfare and law enforcement protection; and WHEREAS, one way this can be accomplished is by instituting a drug screen procedure as a part of the pre- placement medical examination for prospective employees; and WHEREAS, prospective employees are not governed by a collective bargaining agreement, NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Azusa that it is its stated policy to encourage and support the concept of a drug-free workforce, and as part of this policy, the City Administrator and/or his designee is authorized to implement a drug screen procedure as a part of the pre- placement medical examination for prospective City employees as he deems appropriate and in conformance with current legal requirements. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 2nd day of February, 1987. _ 07 MAYOR I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City Azusa at a regular meeting thereof on the 2nd day of February, 1987, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NONE NONE
