HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8164RESOLUTION NO. 8164 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION OF WATER UTILITY OPERATOR SUPERVISOR AND ESTAB- LISHING A SALARY THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The class specifications of Water Utility Operator Supervisor are adopted in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The salary range for Water Utility Operator Supervisor shall be Range 191 ($2,105.70 - $2,599.49 per month). Assistance in the maintenance of production equipment is also required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision and direction is provided by the Water Utility Superintendent. Responsibilities include the direct and indirect supervision of production personnel. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervise, plan, coordinate, schedule and assign water production maintenance and repair work to pumps, wells and controls as necessary. Make independent decisions as to the nature of problems with the pumping equipment and recommendations to the Water Utility Superintendent. Monitor and assist in making minor tests and repairs to the telemetering equipment to ensure proper system operation. Read and check water production meters and gauges. Collect water samples and take static readings to determine pumping levels. Supervise and assist in making efficiency tests on pumps and wells. Supervise and assist all maintenance to well and pumping equipment. Maintain daily and monthly production reports. Respond to emergencies as required. Page 1 of 3 0 0 Coordinate assigned work with other City departments, and sections as necessary. Assist in preparation of yearly budget. Train, supervise and evaluate subordinate personnel. May work a regularly scheduled stand-by shift. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: divisions Principles, practices, methods, materials, equipment and techniques used in the operation, repair, replacement and maintenance of water production equipment. Principles and practices of effective supervision. Safe and efficient work practices and knowledge of CAL -OSHA guidelines. Ability to: Effectively supervise, assign, schedule, coordinate and direct work performed in the repair and maintenance of water production equipment, and assist in these duties. Provide cost and materials estimate for work to be performed. Read and understand blue prints and schematics. Effectively inspect and determine what steps are to be take when problems arise in the City's telemetry system. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, utility representatives and the general public. Work in emergency situations and effectively make decisions in difficult situations. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Page 2 of 3 Experience: Five years of significant journey -level work experience in the operation and maintenance of water production equipment including experience in a supervisory capacity. Education• Equivalent to twelfth grade education, supplemented by training courses in water such as distribution, water treatment and hydaulics. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a California State Department of Health water Treatment Grade III license preferred. Possession of a valid California Class 3 driver's license. Page 3 of 3
