HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 82030 0 RESOLUTION NO. 8203 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OPPOSING THE PROPOSED DISSOLUTION OF CAL -OSHA WHEREAS, the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal -OSHA) is widely recognized to have developed the best statewide occupational safety and health plan among states having their own statewide plans, and WHEREAS, the standards and requirements for workplace health and safety promulgated by the Cal -OSHA Standards Board offer greater protection to workers than do those of Federal OSHA, and WHEREAS, the Governor of California has proposed to abolish Cal -OSHA in 1987 and return responsibility to Federal OSHA for assuring that California workplaces are safe, and WHEREAS, many of the serious accidents involving the release of toxic substances into the community occur in the workplace; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, joins with the majority of public agencies in strongly opposing the proposed dissolution of the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal -OSHA). ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 30th day of March, 1987.
