HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8316RESOLUTION NO. 8316 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DESIGNATING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1987, AS RAILWAY CENTENNIAL CHIEF DAY. WHEREAS, the railroads provided the first secure and regular passage that spanned our Nation, thereby giving it a truly united national identity, and WHEREAS, the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company is celebrating the Centennial of service that provided the last link of rail service from Kansas City to Los Angeles, and WHEREAS, to commemorate that signal achievement, a special, one -day "Whistle -Stop" trip between San Bernardino and Los Angeles, has been planned. This unique trip will make ceremonial stops at several cities, including Azusa, along its route; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa, in order to appropriately recognize, publicize and otherwise disseminate information calling attention to the event, hereby designates, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1987 AS RAILWAY CENTENNIAL CHIEF DAY and call on all residents to participate in the ceremony planned in conjunction with the stop in the City of Azusa. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 5th day of October, 1987. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 5th day of October, 1987, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILIgEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE CITY CLERK
