HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 83150 RESOLUTION NO. 8315 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 25-31, 1987, AS "RED RIBBON WEEK." WHEREAS, the insidious, pernicious reality of a cancer is gnawing at the fundamental vitals of our Society. Crippling, at best, killing at worst, it is unceasingly spreading, creating havoc as it goes, and WHEREAS, in recognition of the fact that we must promptly act to slow, and, hopefully stop this destructive dual presence, alcohol and drugs, the Californians for Drug -Free Youth, Inc., a statewide parent/community organization, and the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs are co -sponsoring "RED RIBBON WEEK" October 25-31, 1987, and WHEREAS, schools, businesses, law enforcement, churches, hospitals, service clubs, government agencies, and individuals in the State of California will demonstrate their commitment for a drug-free society by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week-long campaign, and WHEREAS, the City of Azusa further commits its resources to ensure the success of the RED RIBBON campaign; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, acting in unison to take a positive step in order to abate this poison in our midst, hereby supports the RED RIBBON campaign and proclaims the week of October 25-31, 1987, as RED RIBBON WEEK in the City of Azusa, California, and encourages its citizens to participate in drug awareness activities, making a visible statement that we are strongly committed to live a healthy life; further encouraging all citizens to pledge: "The Choice For Me ... Drug Free!" PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of October, 1987. . j YO I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 5th day of October, 1987, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
