HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8496PMT/RE54875 • • 8/11/88 RESOLUTION NO. 8496 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTIONS NO. 8477, 8478, 8479 AND 8480 RELATING TO THE REVISION OF CERTAIN BALLOT QUESTIONS AND THE ADDITION OF A BALLOT QUESTION FOR THE NOVEMBER, 1988 ELECTION SECTION 1. On July 18, 1988, the City Council of the City of Azusa adopted Resolutions No. 8477, 8478, 8479 and 8480. These resolutions called for a special municipal election to be held on November 8 , 1988, and provided for the designation of certain ballot measures to be included on the ballot for said election and provided for certain other matters as required by law necessary for the conduct of said election. The City Council now wishes to modify the language of one of the ballot questions and add an additional measure to said ballot. SECTION 2. Those portions of Resolutions No. 8477, 8478, 8479 and 8480, which describe a proposition for the ballot measure reading "SHALL ORDINANCE NO. 2377 WHICH ESTABLISHES AN ADMISSIONS TAX ON CERTAIN EVENTS AND PARKING IN THE SUM OF TEN PERCENT (10%) OF THE ADMISSION PRICE, BE APPROVED?" is hereby deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following language: "SHALL ORDINANCE NO. 2377 WHICH (1) INCREASES THE ADMISSIONS TAX ON SWAP MEET VENDORS TO $2.50, (2) ESTABLISHES A 20t TAX ON ADMISSIONS TO SWAP MEETS, AND (3) ESTABLISHES A TAX OF 10% OF THE ADMISSIONS PRICE ON ADMISSIONS TO CERTAIN EVENTS AND PARKING, BE APPROVED?" SECTION 3. Resolutions No. 8477, 8478, 8479 and 8480 shall also be amended to add to the ballot measures set forth therein, where applicable, the following additional ballot question: "Shall Ordinance No. 2379 which increases the business license tax of motion picture theaters to $11.65 per year per seat or space, be approved?" SECTION 4. Except as expressly provided herein, the text and terms of Resolutions No. 8477, 8478, 8479 and 8480 shall remain in full force and effect and the provisions of the various resolutions shall apply with full force and effect to the amended ballot measure and the new ballot measure as set forth herein. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.
