A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE
CLASSIFICATION OF EMERGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The class specifications of Emergency
Services Coordinator are hereby amended in accordance with Exhibit A
attached and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 21st day of March, 1988.

EMERGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR
To assist in organizing, developing, and coordinating disaster
and emergency services programs; and to act as an administrative
assistant to the Chief of Police
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Direction is provided at the level of Chief of Police and
Division Commander.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to,
the following:
Develop city response plans and procerdures in event of man-made
or natural disaster; prepare procedures for use of Emergency
Operations Center.
Review literature and regulations governing emergency
preparedness planning.
Prepare the city's Emergency Operations Center for use.
Participate actively in Emergency Operations Center and maintain
operation as required throughout emergency situation.
Make public presentation on emergency and disaster planning to a
variety of community groups.
Plan exercises involving emergency plans.
Assist in preparing and administering the annual operating budget
for the program.
Present relevant reports and issues to the City Council.
Organize volunteers and conduct training programs related to
emergency preparedness.
Apply for State and Federal funding assistance.
Represent the city at meetings with other emergency service
planning agencies.
Complete assigned research and development projects in a
completed staff manner.
Develop policies and procedures for the Police Department as
required.

Communicate with other police departments in an effort to keep
the organization apprised of the current state of the art in new
technology and police procedure.
Research new and innovative ideas in police -related subjects.
Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Completed staff work.
Ability to Gain Knowledge in:
State and Federal laws and regulations governing emergency
planning and response.
Principles and methods of preparing for and managing
response to disasters.
Potential kinds of disasters which could occur in or near
the city, the likelihood of their occurrence, and the
appropriate steps to be taken in planning for their
occurrence.
Organizatin of local, regional, and state emergency response
agencies.
Ability to•
Develop effective plans for emergency response.
Recruit and train volunteers.
Maintain effective working relationships with a variety of
individuals and organizations.
Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
Work effectively and efficiently in an emergency situation.
Give effective public presentations.

Experience and Education
0
Any combination of experience and education that would
likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is
qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and
abilities would be:
Experience:
Two years of general administrative experience,
including responsibility for program planning and
volunteer recruitment and supervision.
Education
Completion of a training course in emergency prepared-
ness planning.
60 semester units of college -level course work.
License or Certificate
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
