HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 84240 RESOLUTION NO.8424 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REVISING THE SPECIFICATION SHEET FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF STREET MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The class specification sheet for Street Maintenance Supervisor is revised in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 6TH day of June, 1988. MAYOR I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof on the 6th day of June, 1988, by the following vote of Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, STEMRICH, NARANJO, LATTA MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS NONE 0 0 Adopted: CITY OF AZUSA STREET MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (Exhibit A) To organize and supervise work crews of the field service division engaged in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers, sidewalks and drains; and to provide responsible and technical staff assistance. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General direction is provided by the Assistant Director of Public Works/Parks. Responsibilities include direct supervision over street, sewers, sidewalks and drains section personnel. Assignments may also require indirect supervision of maintenance personnel. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and priorities. Organize and supervise crews of skilled and semi -skilled personnel in the repair and maintenance of streets and drainage facilities including such things as street resurfacing, repairing and patching; street cleaning; sidewalk, curb and gutter removal and replacement; storm drain maintenance; maintenance of public and municipal facilities. Maintain time, material, equipment use and inspection records as necessary. Requisition supplies and materials. Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions as necessary to resolve complaints. Check streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and drainage facilities for needed maintenance and repairs. Inspect the work of crews while in progress; provide advice and assistance to subordinate maintenance personnel. Assist in preparing the section budget. Assist in preparing cost estimates for street and drainage system maintenance and repair activities. Page 1 of 3 0 0 CITY OF AZUSA Street Maintenance Supervisor (continued) EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (continued) Assist in coordinating street and drainage system maintenance activities with other City departments, divisions and sections, as well as with outside agencies. Supervise, train and evaluate subordinates. Maintain ongoing safety training program with division personnel. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of• Materials, methods, practices and equipment used in streets and storm drain system maintenance and repair activities. Types and level of maintenance and repair activities gener- ally performed in a street and drainage system maintenance program. Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions neces- sary in the work. Geography of the City, including the location of pump sta- tions, major utility systems, streets, and drainage facil- ities. Basic elements of civil engineering as they relate to street drainage, maintenance and repair. Principles of personnel management, supervision and training. Ability to: Supervise, train and evaluate subordinates. Interpret and work from sketches, penciled layouts and blue- prints and prepare plans for minor projects. Keep accurate records and make written and verbal reports. Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Page 2 of 3 0 0 CITY OF AZUSA Street Maintenance Supervisor (continued) QUALIFICATIONS (continued) Experience and Education Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience Five years of increasingly responsible experience in street maintenance and drainage systems repair, including two years of supervisory experience. Experience in excess of 5 years in a supervisory capacity could substitute for the education requirement. Education Equivalent to completion of an Associate of Arts degree, supplemented with specialized courses in supervision and construction -related subjects. Page 3 of 3
