HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 85060 0 RESOLUTION" NO. 8506 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA EXTENDING ITS CONDOLENCES ON THE DEATH OF ROY PRITTIE WHEREAS, the interval of consciousness between birth and death is filled by us in myriad ways. Some waste this finite period in a meaningless and inane maze whose end is the hopeless termination of an empty, frustrating experience, and WHEREAS, ROY PRITTIE was one of the happy few whose life was indeed blessed with meaning and direction; Roy, surrounded by kith and kin, enriched all our lives by his presence. As a person involved in the workings of his community, he radiated a rare quality of leadership, imbued with care, concern and understanding, within a framework of charm and gentility, and WHEREAS, evinced by his outstanding service on the City of Azusa Personnel Board since his appointment in April of Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-five, a tenure culminating in his appointment as Vice -Chairman; his passage from our plane to the other side of life, has already created a rift in our collective elan vital, and gives us pause to consider anew the pristine words of the Poet, Longfellow, when he penned: "There is not death! What seems so is Transition; This life of mortal breath Is but a suburb of the Life Elysian Whose portal we call death." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, collectively extends its condolences to Roy's loved ones on their loss, a loss which is shared by us all, because we, also, mourn the passing of a friend and colleague, one who shared the trials and travails of life with us. However, bear in mind, that something remains for us to cherish: The indelible record in this City's history that he left to posterity. ROY PRITTIE, most assuredly, shall not soon be forgotten.
