RESOLUTION NO. 8500
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA OPPOSING CLOSURE OF THE REGIONAL MENTAL
HEALTH FACILITY LOCATED AT 330 E. LIVE OAK IN
THE CITY OF ARCADIA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Regional Mental Health Facility at 330 E.
Live Oak in the City of Arcadia provides services and resources
that are of extreme urgency for the San Gabriel Valley; and
WHEREAS, the elimination of this facility and its
services will create a hardship for local police agencies and
deprive persons in this area of care; and
WHEREAS, removal of subject Mental Health Facility
would be of great detriment to policing agencies in the City of
Azusa and to "impaired" individuals, and would lead to an overall
negative situation which outweighs any cost savings and may
increase actual cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council registers opposition
to closure of the Mental Health Facility at 330 E. Live Oak,
Arcadia, and urges perpetuation of this much-needed and important
facility not only for the benefit of Azusa but the well-being of
the San Gabriel Valley.
SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be forwarded
to the County Board of Supervisors and other pertinent County
officials and affected agencies and cities in the San Gabriel
Valley.
