HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 8500• 0 RESOLUTION NO. 8500 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OPPOSING CLOSURE OF THE REGIONAL MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY LOCATED AT 330 E. LIVE OAK IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the Regional Mental Health Facility at 330 E. Live Oak in the City of Arcadia provides services and resources that are of extreme urgency for the San Gabriel Valley; and WHEREAS, the elimination of this facility and its services will create a hardship for local police agencies and deprive persons in this area of care; and WHEREAS, removal of subject Mental Health Facility would be of great detriment to policing agencies in the City of Azusa and to "impaired" individuals, and would lead to an overall negative situation which outweighs any cost savings and may increase actual cost. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council registers opposition to closure of the Mental Health Facility at 330 E. Live Oak, Arcadia, and urges perpetuation of this much-needed and important facility not only for the benefit of Azusa but the well-being of the San Gabriel Valley. SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the County Board of Supervisors and other pertinent County officials and affected agencies and cities in the San Gabriel Valley. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 15th day of August, 1988.
