The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Dickerson,
Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Carr, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of
the City Council were read and approved as

A communication signed by Cornelius Smith,
Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, re-
lative to warning signals on all approaches
to railroad crossings, was read.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that this matter be
referred to the City Attorney.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Dickerson, Strohmeier,
McIntire, Arnold, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that the Street Super-
intendent be instructed to paint warning signs
on all approaches to railroad crossings
except where State Highways intersect the
Railroad, and that the City Engineer be
instructed to request Mr. Gripper,of the
State Highway Department, to have warning
signs painted on all State Highway approaches
within the Azusa City limits.

A notice of the 81st regular meeting of the
League was read and the City Clerk instructed
to make 2 reservations.
A communication from A. E. Williamson, re-
lative to the re -vamping of the Zoning
Ordinance, was read.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that same be referred
to the local Planning Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Dickerson, Strohmeier,

A communication from the State Board of
Equalization, notifying the City Council that
the application of Jennie Schiro for a
license to sell liquor was denied, was read
and ordered placed on file.
A communication from Owens-Vosburg Insurance
Agency, requesting a release on the bond
vrritten for S. C. Bierbower as Chief of
Police, was read.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the City Clerk
be authorized and instructed to sign the
release on bond issued to the City of Azusa

A communication from Owens-Vosburg Insurance
Agency relative to the expiration date on
Policy carrbd by the City of Azusa on the
Azusa Public Library, was read.
City Attorney Miller said that this policy
and all other insurance policies where the
80% co-insurance clause or reduced rate
average clause in included, is a bad bargain
for the Insured.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that the City Clerk be
authorized to instruct Owens-Vosburg Insurance
Agency to renew the policy for fire protection
on the Library for $p6,000 for five years with
policy's expiration date determined as of
November 2, 1942.

McIntire, Arnold, Carr.

Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that the City Clerk be
authorized to instruct Owens-Vosburg Insurance
Agency to write a bond for the present Chief
of Police Chester with the same provisions as
that of the former Chief's Bond.

Moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the Mayor be author-
ized and instructed to sign a contract be-
tween the City of Azusa and Cook Nichols
Company for the City's supply of Mazda Lamps.

City Attorney Miller reported that he had

The matter of the purchase of a patrol grader
was discussed and no action taken.
City Attorney Miller reported that he had
spent two days in checking with the Santa Fe
and Railroad Commission engineers in the
matter of closing the Orange Avenue crossing
over the Santa Fe tracks. He felt that a
satisfactory agreement will be reached in the
near future.
