The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular adjourned session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Attorney
and City Clerk.
Mayor Arnold announced that the Council were now
ready to hear protests on the proposed Zoning
Ordinance.
' There were no verbal protests.
The Clerk announced that there were no written
protests,filed.
A. E. Williamson reported he had contacted Mr.
Ransom, whose property is located on the corner
of Azusa Avenue and Tenth Street and suggested to
Council that the property on both sides of Azusa
Avenue between Ninth and Tenth Streets be placed
in the Retail Zone.

reported.
Mr. Clyde Holcomb, Commander of the American Clyde Holcomb,
Legion Canyon City Post #180, addressed the Coun- Commander of
cil expressing the wish of the Post to renew the American Legion
lease they now have'with the City of Azusa on the Post addressed the
building known as the American Legion Club House. Council.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that in consideration of the
mutual promises and agreements this day made and
carried out by and between the parties to that
certain lease dated April 18, 1934, in which the
City of Azusa in accordance with the terms thereof
leases the property therein described to the
Canyon City Post No. 180 American Legion, it is
hereby stipulated and agreed that the term of
said lease shall be,'and is hereby extended for
ten (1U) years, which said extension of ten years
shall be in addition to the ten year term set
forth in said lease, with the understanding that
said lease during said term as hereby extended
shall continue in full force and effect, and that
all provisions thereof shall be applicable to
said term as so extended.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Carl Wright, Secretary for Town Hall, requested
the use of the Auditorium for March 16, 1939.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper and duly carried that same
be granted.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Malone that the City of Azusa bill
Angeles County Flood Control District in the
amount of $386.40 for flood control work done
First Street.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.. Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that the Mayor be authorized
and instructed to write H. E. Hedger, Chief
Engineer for Los Angeles County Flood Control
District offering to purchase the fence in the
County Flood Control Yard at a salvage price
quoted by Chief Engineer Hornell.
Lease of Club House
extended 10 years.
Town Hall granted

Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Owens reported on a telephone con-
versation with John Colton, Engineer for Board
of Fire Underwriters.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
' Councilman Jumper that the Chairman of the Police
and Fire Committee together with the Chief of
Fire Department be appointed to secure the
services of a night sleeper, as recommended by
the Board of Fire Underwriters, who will perform
the duties required by Ordinance No. 340; also
this Committee to'instruct-the Clerk to notify
the Board of Fire Underwriters When',they=are satis-
fied the City of,Azusa is ready for a survey.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved and carried that the City Clerk be in-
structed to secure permission from the Board of
Fire Underwriters to respond to fire alarms at
the Center School, located on East Broadway
Road just outside Azusa City limits.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper and duly carried that the
Council adjourn.
