RESOLUTION NO. 8725
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE CIRCULATION
ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN TO DELETE A
PORTION OF THE DESIGNATED TRUCK ROUTE
SYSTEM ON SIERRA MADRE AND VERNON AVENUES
(GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. GPA -89-3)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Azusa
does hereby find, determine and declare that:
(a) At their meeting of August 16, 1989, the
Planning Commission of the City of Azusa held a
duly noticed public hearing and adopted Resolution
No. 89-74 recommending to the Council that General
Plan Amendment No. GPA -89-3 be approved. The
subject General Plan Amendment would delete a
portion of the designated truck route system from
the circulation element of the General Plan on
Sierra Madre Avenue between Todd Avenue and San
Gabriel Avenue and on Vernon Avenue between Sierra
Madre Avenue and Tenth Street.
(b) On September 18, 1989, the City Council
of the City of Azusa held a duly noticed public
hearing on the proposed General Plan Amendment and
carefully considered the evidence and public
comments received at said public hearing.
(c) The public convenience, necessity and
general welfare require that the subject General
Plan Amendment be approved. A number of complaints
had been received from area residents regarding
truck traffic on Sierra Madre Avenue between Todd
Avenue and San Gabriel Avenue and on Vernon Avenue
between Sierra Madre Avenue and Tenth Street.
These primarily residential neighborhoods are
disrupted by the noise and traffic hazard presented
by the trucks that are serving nearby industrial
areas. Other routes are available for this
traffic.
(d) The General Plan Amendment approved by
this resolution is consistent with the General Plan
of the City of Azusa and each of the elements
thereof.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Azusa
does hereby amend the circulation element of the General
Plan of the City of Azusa by deleting that portion of the
designated truck route system on Sierra Madre Avenue between
Todd Avenue and San Gabriel Avenue and on Vernon Avenue
between Sierra Madre Avenue and Tenth Street.
SECTION 3. The Director of Community Development
shall revise the circulation element of the General Plan of

the City of Azusa to reflect the changes in said element
approved by this resolution.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify the
adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of
October 19 89.
