The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Dickerson, Roll call.
Strohmeier, McIntire, Arnold, Carr, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of Minutes approved.
April 4, 1938 were read and approved as read.
An invitation to attend the League dinner at Communication
Signal Hill was read and ordered placed on read and ordered
file. placed on file.
Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY RESOLUTION NO.
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, 1558 ADOPTED.
RESCINDING AND VOIDING RESOLUTION NO. 1556
ADOPTED MARCH 212 19380 WHICH RESCINDED
RESOLUTION ACCEPTED A GRANT DEED OF THE CON-
TRACT WATER COMPANY OF AZUSA.
Moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that this Resolution
be adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 1558.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the Council proceed
to canvass the returns of the General
Municipal Election held April 12, 1938.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Dickerson, Strohmeier,
McIntire, Arnold, Carr.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
The City Council then proceeded to publicly Canvass of
examine and canvass said returns and upon returns.
completion of said canvass by said Council
it appeared that the whole number of votes
cast at said election were 1280, that the
names of persons voted for,`the offices for
which they were voted and the number of votes
given in Consolidated "A" Precinct and Con-
solidated "B" Precinct to each of said
persons, together with the whole number of
votes which they received in the entire City
of Azusa are as follows:

Councilman McIntire offered the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 1559
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGEIES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT
OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTERS OF THE' GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON APRIL 12, 1938.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
' WHEREAS a general municipal election was held and
conducted in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, on Tuesday the 12th day of April, 1938, as
required by law, and
WHEREAS it appears that Notice of said election
was duly and legally given and that there were two voting
Precincts established for said election consisting of con-
solidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and
County elections as the same were and are established by the
Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles, California; that elect-
ion officials were appointed and election supplies furnished
and that in all respects said election was held and conducted
and the returns therof made and declared in time, form and
manner as required by the General Laws of the State of
California governing elections in cities of the fifth and
sixth classes; and
WfEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa met
at the Council Chambers of said Council on Monday the -18th
day of April, 1938, to canvass the returns of said election
and install the newly elected officers. Whereupon the said
Council found that the number of votes cast, the names of
' the persons voted for, the result of said election and other
matter required by law, to be as hereinafter stated.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND DECLARED
AS FOLLOWS: -
That said regular municipal election was held and
conducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Tuesday the
12th day of April, 1938, in the time, form and manner as
required by law.
That there were two voting precincts established
for the purpose of holding said election consisting of a
consolidation of the regular Election Precincts established
for holding General State and County Elections.
That the whole number of votes cast in said City
of Azusa at said election was 1280 .
That the names of the persons voted for, the

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk
shall immediately make and deliver to each of said persons
so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly
authenticated; that she shall also impose the constitutional
oath of office upon said persons so elected as Members of the
City Council of said City and shall have them and each.of
them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office;
thereupon each and all of said persons so elected to said
respective offices shall be inducted into said respective
office to which they have been elected.
' Passed, adopted and approved this 18th day of

general municipal election Roy C. Arnold was elected to office
of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California,
for the full term of four years; also that Claude H. Dickerson
was elected to office of Member of the City Council of the
City of Azusa, California, for the full term of four years;
also that Victor A. Owens was elected to office of Member of
the City Council of the City of Azusa, California, for the
full term of four years; also that Rex Strohmeier was elected
to office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa,
California, for the short term of two years.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk
shall immediately make and deliver to each of said persons

regular Council Chambers of said City Council in said City
on April 18th, 1938, and that the same was passed by the
following vote of the Council:

ARNOLD, CARR.

The Council elect, viz: Roy C. Arnold,

Councilman Owens nominated -Councilman Arnold
to the office of Mayor. This nomination was
seconded by Councilman Strohmeier and carried
by the following vote of the Council:

Mayor Arnold immediately took the chair.

is hereby appointed Actin Superintendent of
the Water Department and Virgil Smith be and
he is hereby appointed Acting Superintendent
of the Light and Power Department to serve as
such officers until further action of the City
Council, their salary to remain as heretofor.
