Present at roll Call: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold, City Attorneys and City Clerk. A communication from Standard Stations, Inc., relative to prices on tires was read. A communication from Manning Brothers, quoting rock and sand prices was read. A communication from Owens-Vosburg Insurance Agency was read. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Carr that these communications 399 7.30 P. M. be placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the Maryland Casualty Company relative to a corrected bill covering pay roll audit on Public Liability Policy written to cover the Water and Light Depart- ments, was read. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Carr that same be referred to the City Attorney and City Clerk to report back at the next regular meeting of the Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council: ' Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None, Absent: None. Applications presented by Margaret Orndorff and Orval Frisbee were read. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that same be placed on file for future consideration. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from George N. Hale, Superinten- dent of Azusa City Schools, relative to use of the swimming pool, was read. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Council- man Owens that same be referred to the Board of Public Works, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. ' Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING GRANT DEED OF THE CONTRACT WATER COMPANY OF AZUSA TO SAID CITY AND DIRECTING THAT SAME BE RECORDED. Moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1565. Roll call. Communications read and ordered placed on file. Communication from Maryland Casualty Company referred to City Attorneys. Applications read and ordered placed on file. Matter of adjust- ment on swimming pool referred to Board of Public Works. RESOLUTION NO. 1565 ADOPTED. 400 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL. APRIL 21, 1938. 7:30 P. M. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that the matter of neva letter heads for the City Attorneys be referred to the Purchasing Committee, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. F. M. Robinson, representing the firm of Cren- shaw, Diehl & Edwards, appeared before the City Council and suggested that an inventory be made of the Water and Light Departments. He stated that this could be done by the Personnel of the Light and Water Departments assisted by a member of the Auditing firm. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that Mr. Robinson be instructed to install a set of books in the Light and Water Departments; to also make an inventory of all stock and supplies on hand. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr, Kressly, Consulting Engineer, appeared before the Council relative to the Park and Server Projects under W.P.A. He suggested the ' Council employ a contact man to follow up these projects as application for the Sewer Project was filed in Washington and has not yet been approved. He also suggested that the Council make application to the Pacific Electric Railway Company be proceed with the crossing on Vernon Avenue. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to notify the Pacific Electric Railway Company that the City of Azusa is ready to proceed with the cross- ing at the intersection of Crescent Drive and Vann Avenue and will approve installation thereof by the Pacific Electric Railway Com- pany, as per contract. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that the City Clerk be authorized to have a bond written for Fred E. Williams, as Chief of Police of the City of Azusa, the amount of premium to be the same as that of the former Chief. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Mayor Arnold that Resolution -No, 1523 be rescinded effective as of May 1, 1938 and the City 6lerk instructed to notify Mrs. Elena Aguilar to be subject to call by the Police Department on the regular wage of 50/ per hour. AN, Letter heads referred to Purchasing Committee. Inventory of Light and Water Departments to be made by personnel. Mr. Robinson instructed to install set of books for Water and Light Depart- ments. City Clerk instructed to notify Pacific Electric Railway Co. that the City is ready to pro- ceed with cross- ing at Vernon Avenue. Bond written for Chief Williams. Resolution No. 1523 rescinded. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that an estimate, submitted by the Ford Garage, to repair certain street equipment, be referred to the Purchasing Committee, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that the following pur- chase orders be allowed: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9- 10-11-12-13 Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None, Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens and duly carried that the Council adjourn.
