M. 5 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in Special Session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Dickerson and City Attorneys: The Notice of the Special Meeting was read as follows: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERly : PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa, State of California, IS HEREBY CALLED to be held in the Council Chambers of said City at the hour of 6:30 P. M. on Friday, April 29, 1938, for the purpose of a discussion of change in personnel in the Light and water Departments and any other business that may rightfully come before the Council. M. on the 29th day of April, 1938, and that I served the same on the hereinafter named persons, who are members of the City 9ouncil of the said City of Azusa, at the time set after their respective names, by personally delivering to and leaving with said persons a true copy of the attached "Noticeof Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa." Gripper, District City Projects Engineer for the State of California Department of Public Works, relative to direct- ional signs_. on Routes 62 and 9, was read. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Carr that the City Clerk be author- ized and instructed to sign post script to facilitate the Council's approval. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Dickerson. A request, presented by Mrs. Fred Stone, to use the Auditorium on May 4, 1938, was read. Roll call. Notice of Meeting. City Clerk instruct ed to sign post script for E. S. Gripper. In MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL. APRIL 29, 1938. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that the request be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohme-er, Carr, Arnold, Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Dickerson. A communication signed by W. M. Kerr, Registrar of Voters, relative to polling places for the August Primary Election, was read. 7:30 P. M. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the City Clerkbe instructed to write Mr. Kerr that the only City owned pro- perty suitable for a polling place is the City Auditorium, that the Council are willing to offer some, rent free, for this purpose. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Dickerson. A communication signed by Walter Grayson, relative to the Dog Pound, was read and ordered placed on file. A communication signed by Lester Holderman, was read and ordered placed on file. Mayor Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TERMINATING THE EMPLOYMENT OF HARVEY SEARS, AS TRUCK DRIVER, AND OF SAMUEL STEVENS, AS METER READER FOR THE LIGHT AND WATER DEPART- 1MNT OF THE CITY OF AZUSA. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No, 1566. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: -.Councilman Carr. , Absent: Councilman Dickerson. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TERMINATING THE EMPLOYMENT OF EMIL GIPP, AS FOREMAN OF THE STREET DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, AND REEMPLOYING SAID EMIL GIPP, AS SHOVE119AN, AND FIXING HIS SALARY. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1567. Carried by the following vote of the Council: ' Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Dickerson. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Council- man Strohmeier that all requests to use the City Auditorium be made in writing and filed with the City Clerk to be presented to the Council for approval. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None, Absent: Councilman Dickerson. Mrs. Stone granted permission to use Auditorium. City Clerk instruct ed to advise Mr. Kerr that the City of Azusa has but one polling place available for County use. Communications read and ordered placed on file RESOLUTION NO. 1566 ADOPTED. RESOLUTION NO. 1567 ADOPTED. Requests to use Auditorium to be made in writing.
