The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens,
Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold, City
Attorneys and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of
April 18th, the adjourned meeting of April
21st and the Special Session of April 29, 1938,
were read and approved as read.
Applications for employment were submitted by
the following: Julius Ott, Louie Roberts,
Steve Polopolus, F. D. Streshly and W. I.
Hamblin.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that these applications be
filed for future reference.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson,
Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

City Attorney Tscharner reported on the
City Attorney
Maryland Casualty Company policy, stating
reported on bill
that F. M. Robinson suggested the City pay
of $67.25 to
the bill of $67,25 as that is due on the
Maryland Casualty
preimim, but not to pay the $136.77 billed the
Company.
City by the Maryland Casualty Company.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that the statement
presented by the Maryland Casualty Company
for $136.77 be referred to the Auditor for
further investigation.

H. V. Owens and Mr. Custer appeared before
the Council relative to the Fire Underwriters
recommendations on additional equipment for
the Fire Department.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that this matter be
referred to the Fire and Police Committee
to report back at a later date.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson,

Councilman Owens that the Council go into
executive session for not more than ten
minutes.

Councilman Owens that the City Clerk be
instructed to advertise for bids on the
material.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson that the purchase order
for 1000 gallons of gasoline be made to the
Standard Oil Company.

made by Chief of Police Williams, Edmund
Thompson be relieved from traffic duty and be
made a patrolman on night duty at a reduction
in salary from $150, to $135, per month, effective
