Absent: None. at the Council: Fred Frye, Building Inspector, reported Mr. Charles Stiefvater wished to improve property located on Santa Fe Avenue between Azusa and San Gabriel Avenues. No action taken. The City Clerk announced that she had received two bids in answer to Notice Calling for Sealed Bids on sale of scrap copper and old equipment. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the bids be now examined and publicly declared. Carried by the following vote of the Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING BUDGET SET FORTH IN PROJECT STATEMENT SUBMITTED TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR EXPENDIT - URE OF ONE-FOURTH CENT GAS TAX ON STREETS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 301, 1939 WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Carr that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1572. Upon recommendation of the Auditor, Mayor Arnold opened, for discussion,the matter of an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING SCHEDULE D -1 -Bl AND SCHEDULE D -1-B2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 328 OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING RATES TO BE CHARGED FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 307 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT HEREWITH." 429 Building Inspector reported on Stiefvater Build- ing. Councilman Strohmeier offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REQUIRING CASH DEPOSIT OR OTHER SECURITY TO BE MADE TO SECURE AND PAY BILLS FOR WATER AND ELECTRICITY. to be placed upon its first reading. This Ordinance was then read. ' Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Carr that this Ordinance be referred to the Superintendent of Light and Water to report back at the next meeting of the Council. ZERELL, SUPERINTEN- 1573 ADOPTED. DENT OF LIGHT AND WATER DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AND FIXING HIS DUTIES AND SALARY OR COMPENSATION. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1573. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPOINTING VIRGIL SMITH ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF LIGHT AND WATER DEPARTMENTS AND SUPERINTENDENT OF LINE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, AND FIXING HIS SALARY. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier,, seconded by Councilman Owens that this,Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1574. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that the matter be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole. ' City Attorney Tscharner reported on the Azusa Agricultural Water Company stock, owned by the City of Azusa and the Contract entered into between the 6ity of Azusa and the Azusa Agricultural Water Company in the year 1900. Mr. Tscharner stated that the contract was binding and that the City of Azusa is obligated to pay the assessment, billed by the Azusa Agricultural Water Company. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Coin 11man Carr that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign a check in the amount of $120.40 made to the Azusa Agricultural Water Company, representing assessments on Water Stock. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeler, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drsim upon the Treasury for the same.
