HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 91-C034RESOLUTION NO. 91-C34 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION OF RECORDS SUPERVISOR AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The class specifications of Records Supervisor are hereby adopted in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The classification of Records Supervisor be established at a salary range of $2,904 to $3,566 per month. SECTION 3. The classification of Records Supervisor be placed in middle management. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 15th day of April, 1991. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof on the 15th day of April, 1991, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DANGLEIS, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE STEMRICH, NARANJO-, ALEXANDER, 0 CITY OF AZUSA RECORDS SUPERVISOR Date adopted: 4-15-91 Under general supervision of a Police Captain, the Records Supervisor is responsible for the operational management of the Records Bureau and Police Dispatch Center. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to: Supervise and train Records Bureau and Dispatch staff; schedule shifts, write performance evaluations; assist in selection of staff, and recommend disciplinary actions. Set up and maintain record keeping system in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies; ensure guidelines for release of information related to laws and departmental policies. Respond to inquiries, solve complaints and provide information to public in accordance with established laws, codes, regulations, and policies. Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment for records and dispatch function. Assist in budget preparation. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: principle codes, regulations, and laws governing records management; principles of office management; supervision, training, and evaluation of Records Bureau personnel; computerized systems used in municipal law enforcement agencies which may include but are not limited to records management, computer-aided dispatch, state and federal systems, and personal computers; laws, codes, regulations, and policies relating to the control of police records. Ability to: supervise, schedule, and train assigned staff; evaluate and report on assigned staff; work effectively and efficiently with sworn law enforcement officials and personnel; develop and implement complex record management inventory control and communication systems; work Page 1 of 2 CITY OF AZUSA RECAS SUPERVISOR • effectively under stress and exercise good judgement in emergency situations; communicate clearly and concisely, orally as well as in writing; investigate and analyze administrative problems. Experience and Education Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three years or more of progressively responsible supervisory experience in records or office management involving the establishment and maintenance of records procedures and systems, preferably in law enforcement. Education: Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in the criminal justice field, public or business administration, or a related field. License Possession of a valid California Class 3 Driver's License. Page 2 of 2
